Fufore Local Government Council of Adamawa State has presented scholarship support to 100 students of tertiary institution from the area.
Presenting the cash support to the students at a ceremony in Fufore, the council chairman, Aliyu Wakili-Boya said the gesture was to encourage qualified students in the area to further their education.
Mr Boya who was represented by the chairman of the Boya scholarship Programme, Saidu Sali, said 50 of the students undergoing diploma programme were given N10,000 each while the other 50 undergoing degree programme were given N20, 000 each.
Speaking at the occasion, the District Head of Fufore, Abubakar Mahmud, lauded the initiative and urged other elected officials to emulate it.
Mr Mahmud also urged beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by being more dedicated to their studies.
Some of the beneficiaries, Suleiman Man-Petel and Hussaini Lawur, who spoke, thanked the council chairman for the support which they said was timely.
They prayed for the success of his future ambition, saying the chairman who is also the Sarkin Matasa (Youth Leader) in Adamawa Emirate would do more for the youth in the zone.
