Wielders of dangerous weapons suspected to be cultists have allegedly killed 13 students of Kogi State University, KSU, Ayingba.
The incident, which took place last Friday, was allegedly ignited by the killing of a cult kingpin from Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.
The kingpin was killed by members of a cult group from KSU, sources said.
The 13 KSU students were killed to retaliate the killing of the polytechnic cult kingpin.
It was gathered that three of the students were killed on campus and nine were traced to different areas in Ayingba.
Some of the killings, it was gathered, took place at the Stadium Road and Our Lady Fatima lodge.
When the university’s spokesman, Joseph Edegbo, was contacted, he said he was not ready to comment on the development, “because it is very sensitive.”
However, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Busari, confirmed the development but said only three students were killed.
He said arrests were yet to be made but detectives were on the trail of the killers.
