First Lady of the Nigeria, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has launched the Action-Nigeria Campaign, tagged ‘Albishirin Ku’ to create awareness on maternal, newborn, malaria and nutritional heath in the country.

Mrs Buhari, represented by the wife of the Kebbi State governor, Dr. Zainab Bagudu, said the campaign was a social behaviour change intervention under one identity.

According to Mrs Buhari, the maternal and child health trajectory in the country has experienced various strategies by numerous actors.

She, therefore, acknowledged that, “as poor as our indices currently are, it could have been worse if these efforts have not gone in.”

She, however, lamented that despite efforts made by the country, other countries and the World at large, the country was still lagging behind.

“It is sad to note that Nigeria seems not to be making commensurate impact as Nigeria still stands out negatively on the global stage for poor maternal and child health Sector,” the first lady regretted.
