Over 2,000 suspected political thugs loyal to the People Democratic Party in Jigawa state have denounced thuggery and decamped to All Progressive Congress, APC, in the state.
This was stated by PDP Youth Group ex-leader, Umar Ndagi, when he led his members to the state government house to formally register their loyalty to Governor Abubakar Badaru at government house.
Mr Umar explained that for over 12 years they had been used as thugs of the PDP with no any clear plan to improve their future life.
“Having practically known the menace of thuggery, we now repent from it and promise to join hands with the government on a campaign against thuggery. No More Jagaliya,” he stated.
According to him, the group has confidence in governor Badaru’s leadership style in which he recognizes every Jigawa child as his child who is owed right of decent life and good future.
Mr Umar, therefore, appealed to Mr Badaru to help them in reviving their life through empowerment, education and Job creation.
In his reaction, the governor promised to treat them as every Jigawa child, urging them to work hard on enlightening others against drug abuse and thuggery.
