The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has commended Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state for creating an atmosphere of democratic freedom by refraining from imposing successor on the people of the state.

The Borno State Chapter Chairman of the party, Ali Bukar Dalori, who made the commendation on Tuesday, said with this development, aspirants under the party are given their rights to obtain forms for any seat as against “previous practices of dictatorship where party members were denied freedom to aspire for positions.”

According to him, this was the first time since 1999 that aspirants under a ruling party in Borno state were given such freedom.

In a statement to newsmen on Tuesday, the Chairman said: “The APC in Borno State is happy with its growing number of aspirants especially for the governorship in Borno State because the development has charged the political atmosphere in favour of the APC and in positive and peaceful manner.”

The chairman noted that while all aspirants have rights to engage in consultations and lawful negotiations, ‎the party, under governor Shattima would continue its on-going consultation with a view to securing a better futute for the party in the state.

Mr Dalori, therefore, assured all the party members that there was no course for alarm on the number of aspirants, saying that the party members should rather enjoy a moment of the party’s growth in strong democratic culture which would make it more attractive to waiting voters.
