2019: ‘Buhari anointed candidate, second term not dependent on wishes of northern leaders’

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia state, Okey Adiaso, has said that there is no alternative candidate to President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2019 presidential election.

Mr Adiaso reacting to statement made by a northern group led by Ango Abdullahi against the present administration said President Buhari’s second term does not depend on the wishes of northern leaders.

Speaking to journalists in his hometown, Obichukwu village in Isiala Ngwa south local government area of Abia state, Mr Adiaso said the northern elders and group only made their opinion public. He added that the opinion of the group does not represent that of the whole northerners.

He also described their opinion as coming from members of the opposition parties who knew that the president had done a lot. The chieftain who declared his ambition to run for Abia state governorship in the 2019 general election also said he shared in the vision and aspiration of the president.

He said it was the same vision that would drive him in his quest to govern Abia state and that his his quest is to make Abia great again.

The group while meeting in Kaduna state over the weekend said they were disappointed by the performance of some politicians from the northern region. Also condemning the killings in the region, the group warned that they will continue to defend the interest of the north against all odds.
