The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has warmed Nigerian pilgrims against engaging in political activities during Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
A statement by the Head, Public Affairs, Fatima Sanda-Usara, on Thursday, warned pilgrims that displaying banner or pamphlets with political undertones either on Muna tents, buses, pilgrims’ accommodations, is not allowed.
She said that only Islamic literature was to be carried along as the commission called on Islamic scholars to guide pilgrims on the matter.
The Commission advised the pilgrims to follow instructions of their respective pilgrims’ welfare boards or tour operator companies in their own interest, admonishing them to abide by rules and regulations of Saudi Arabia, especially on crowd control.
The commission said “In addition, pilgrims are cautioned to desist from joining any group or organization from any part of the world that intends to hold political/religious demonstrations or campaigns”.
