A legal Practitioner Gashion Danna has expressed his interest to contest against the incumbent Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara who is representing Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Federal Constituency of Bauchi State.

Mr Danna, who is contesting under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, spoke with newsmen on Monday shortly after submitting his Expression of Interest form at the state secretariat of the party.

The 37-year-old lawyer said he was contesting against Mr Dogara on account of marginalisation which his Tafawa Balewa local government area had been facing.

According to him, Mr Dogara, who hails from Bogoro local government area, had been in the seat for three consecutive terms, hence the need for the speaker to vacate the seat.

“I took this bold decision for the massive support I get from my constituency. For the past two years, I have visited all the wards, nooks and crannies of my constituency to meet with people.

“Also, I am in the race because of the numerous calls from my people asking me to contest for the seat due to my competence, zeal and ability to deliver by representing the constituents very well,” he stated.

He expressed optimism that he would win the seat in view of the popularity of his party in the area, promising that if elected, he would consolidate on the gains of the previous representatives.

The State PDP Chairman, Hamza Akuyam who was represented by state Vice Chairman Haruna Shitu pledged to be fair and just towards all aspirants.

The party chairman, therefore, warned the party aspirants against defecting to other political parties if they didn’t win the primary elections.
