The Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, PSMPWB, says it has made the refund of deposits to 15 out of the 316 intending pilgrims for the cancelled 2020 hajj pilgrimage.
This was contained in a statement issued by the board Information Officer, Namu Suleiman, Wednesday, in Jos.
DAILY NIGERIAN recalls that the Hajj exercise was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic across the globe.
Meanwhile, the Board Executive Secretary, Auwal Abdullahi, while announcing the refund said, those refunded were the only persons that applied for their deposited funds.
Recall that the state governor, Simon Lalong, had early in August, directed the board to seek for application of refunds from desirous depositors, and to refunds back their monies.
According to him, “the Executive Secretary Barrister Auwal Abdullahi, has on behalf of the board expressed gratitude to the intending pilgrims for their patience and understanding.”
The statement further said that all the recipients commended the Executive Secretary for his, “transparency and accountability in the discharge of his duties.”
