A concerned citizen of Sokoto State, Abdussamad Aliyu, has called on Nigerian youths to support Governor Aminu Tambuwal in his quest of becoming the country’s President come 2023, saying that the governor’s achievements in the state speak volumes.

In an open letter dated Wednesday 12, and sent to DAILY NIGERIAN, Mr Aliyu called on Nigerians to rally round Mr Tambuwal, saying that the former House of Representatives Speaker remained “the hope of the youth to bring vibrancy, energetic and pragmatic leadership to the central government of Nigeria”.

He said: “Having you as a president would facilitate a paradigm shift in Nigeria’s democratic dispensation.

“Given your outstanding progress as an Executive and Legislature, you remain the hope of the youth to bring vibrancy, energetic and pragmatic leadership to the central government of Nigeria.

“Lastly, Nigeria and Nigerians need you to come to their rescue in 2023!”

Tambuwal: What is next after the Sokoto assignment?

Your Excellency, I write to highlight your outstanding achievements and urge you to save Nigeria as the country’s dwindling fate continues. Evidently, your impacts in the various capacities you have led are inestimable, and has pointed to one of the most important directions in Nigeria’s history – that you are the right man for the job of delivering Nigeria from chaos to prosperity.

Unsurprisingly, you have stabilized peace and prosperity in Sokoto State, harmonizing the efforts of all stakeholders while working towards delivering immeasurably excellent results. Not to mention, but your liberalism, objective governance and all-inclusive development approach is the main reason every segment of the state is not only receiving development attention, but equally making tremendous progress in peace and tranquility. Through your pragmatic and charismatic leadership, the people of the state are more united than ever for a common course. Despite being known for peace and security, banditry sprang up in some segments of the state, and your pro-activeness has resulted in tremendous progress in the restoration of peace and tranquility in the state. Specifically, the magnanimous purchase and donation of 98 Hilux Van and 58 super engine motorcycles to the Nigerian Army is fundamental to the fighting of banditry currently ongoing in Sabon Birni, Isa and Gudu areas of the state.

All great democracies are built by strong characters, and when strong characters exit the democratic atmosphere of a nation, the system collapses. Now or later, Nigeria cannot afford to nurse a collapsed democratic system, and that’s only possible if you lend your hands to the challenging responsibility of leading this nation, whose unity and fate is increasingly torn apart by disunity, insecurity, corruption, religious intolerance, nepotism, and poor leadership. Thus, I urge you to come to the rescue of Nigeria’s democratic fate and entrench good governance that resonate the beauty in our diversity and the unity in our difference.

Undoubtedly, Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit has left many minds aggrieved. Given the volume and value of Nigeria’s resources and strength, many questions have been asked about utilisation for development. With poor power supply, poor transportation network, poor water supply and technological infrastructure, Nigeria currently yens for a leader who would harness these resources to the nation’s optimum advantage. Your recent approval for the construction of 2 intra-city flyovers, 3 roads dualization within the state is an incomparable achievement in bridging the infrastructure gap in the state with little resources in a glimpse of hope that, if given a chance, you would provide a sustainable solution to Nigeria’s infrastructure problems.

Education remains the pillar of sustainable growth and development, and it is the acid test for nations who are ready to grow or crumble. Expectedly, there is a huge link between education and development, peace and tranquility. Your priority to education as the state governor and the huge investments made in the educational sector reassures Nigerians that there’s hope for the future of our dear nation. Before emerging as the state governor, Sokoto State had huge deficits in educational infrastructures, and that has swiftly changed through your unwavering attention and allocation of an unprecedented 38% of the state’s budget to the sector, including the utilization of ₦2billion for the construction of a world class secondary school for Gudu, the only Local Government Area that had no touch of secondary school in the state. With an average literacy rate of 62%, it is obvious that a vast majority of Nigerians are uneducated. While there are numerous interrelated reasons for this, one of the key reasons has been identified to be poor investment and lack of motivation. Given the success recorded so far in your administration as a governor and huge passion for education, it is apposite to say that Nigeria needs you more than ever to build and sustain a dependable educational system.

Your Excellency, your inestimable commitment to the security of our state is an assurance that once elected, Nigeria would have a taste of peace and tranquility again. Before your emergence as the state governor, the state security system was gradually degenerating. Your swift security policy formulation and implementation, quick embrace of all stakeholders and huge investments in security apparatus hugely improved the state security. At the time Nigeria needs lasting security, peace and progress, you are incontestably at the pole position to replicate the current progress across the nation – to unite Nigerians, restore peace and promote prosperity.

Incontestably, one of the menaces of Nigeria has embattled since independence is poverty. No wonder, Nigeria was recently regarded as the poverty capital of the world. This points to the enormous gaps in investments in social security of the country. Since your emergence as the state governor, your robust and responsive intervention programs have improved the ranking of the state in the Poverty Index.

Indisputably, one of the unfulfilled promises of Nigeria is “youths are the leaders of tomorrow.” At the moment, the youths are more than convinced that the previous generations have not given them the mantle of leadership, and this has birthed many arguments as to the readiness of the Nigerian elite to enable this transition. As a young leader, you led the Green Chamber excellently at Forty-Four Years and passed many productive bills that transformed the nation’s legislative sector. You have equally transformed our state at a very young age, resonating the hope of the youth as you continue to inspire many young Nigerians. Thus, having you as a president would facilitate a paradigm shift in Nigeria’s democratic dispensation. Given your outstanding progress as an Executive and Legislature, you remain the hope of the youth to bring vibrancy, energetic and pragmatic leadership to the central government of Nigeria. Lastly Nigeria and Nigerians need you to come to their rescue in 2023!
