At least twenty seven armed robbers in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State have repented and promised not to engage in armed banditry henceforth.
Speaking during the security stakeholders meeting of the local government, the chairman, Garba Moyi, said the repentant bandits had pledged to surrender all their arms and ammunition at the next adjourned meeting.
According to him, the development would reduce the recurring cases of cattle rustling, armed robbery in the state.
While describing it as good development, Mr Moyi commended them for their decision to surrender arms and be law abiding citizens.
Mr. Moyi added that the authorities would protect them against intimidation, retaliation or harassment.
The Divisional Police Officer in the area, Gazali Umar, corroborated the chairman’s position, assuring the repentant bandits of protection against retaliation.
