At least three people, including two medical doctors, have died, following an outbreak of a disease suspected to be Lassa Fever in Kano.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that a pregnant woman who underwent Cesarean Section at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano died three weeks ago of hemorrhagic fever believed to be Lassa.
Credible sources at the hospital said a doctor who assisted in the operation died a few days after the death of the pregnant woman, while an anesthesiologist who attended to the woman at the Intensive Care Unit, ICU died at the weekend.

“Apart from the two doctors, the senior registrar who operated on the patient is currently sick and he has been isolated,” an official who preferred anonymity said.
“AKTH is currently in the process of securing Ribavirin for all the primary contacts of the late patients. Healthcare workers should be vigilant and cautious.”
Spokesperson for the hospital, Hauwa Abdullahi, did respond to DAILY NIGERIAN telephone call.
