A Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court on Friday sentenced a 30-year-old man, Friday Amos, to two months imprisonment for stealing a cell phone.

DAILY NIGERIAN learnt that Mr Amos, of no fixed address, was convicted and sentenced for stealing, after pleading guilty and asking for leniency.

The Judge, Mohammed Marafa, however, gave him an option of N10, 000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crime.

The Prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, had told the court that one Halidu Samaila of Kubwa, Abuja, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on March 20.

Olanipekun said Amos stole a cell phone valued at N50, 000 from the complainant’s car on the said date.

‎He said the convict was arrested with the phone while trying to escape.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code.
