The fourth edition of the FCT Golf Classic Tournament got underway on Monday at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja with the competition’s Qualifying Round.
The round present prospective players the opportunity to join in the game and stand a chance of winning.
The tournament will however be missing the defending champion, Zimbabwean Visitor Mapwanya who won the third edition of the FCT Classic in 2018.
He would not be present in the tournament to defend his title.
Nevertheless, the 2018 runner-up Ghanaian Vincent Torgah who currently has won the first two events of the 2019 season will be looking forward to extend his winnings to three.
According to Harris Okatta, a tournament official, this edition of the competition features about 40 players from different countries around the continent.
“The countries include Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
“From these countries, we will have strong players such as Ghanaian Emos Korblah, Nigerian Sunday Olapade, Gift Willy and Christopher Frances Ambe,’’ he said in a statement.
The FCT Classic is a 72-hole stroke play event contested over four days with a cut being made after 36 holes.
