The University of Maiduguri community was thrown into mourning on Thursday as the remains of five members of staff of the institution, were identified among those killed in a recent Boko Haram attack.
Among those killed by Boko Haram insurgents in the Tuesday deadly attack on oil exploration team in Borno state included Idris Njodi, the brother to the vice chancellor, Ibrahim Njodi.
Other slain staff are Dr. Militus J.V, Dr. Solomon N.Y, Mr. Yusuf Ibrahim, Alhaji Kolo, Mr. Daniel Birma and Mr. Manaja N. Uba.
Chairman of the local branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Dan Mamman, confirmed the death of five members of staff, saying four others are still missing.
Our correspondent reports that so far relations of the deceased persons have identified the corpses of Dr. Militus Joseph V. and Mr. Manaja N. Uba in midst of over 30 corpses deposited at the morgue of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH.
It was gathered that the 30 bodies evacuated from the scene of the attack were conveyed to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, in two army ambulances and four pick-up vans.
