The Yobe Fadama lll Additional Financing, AF, ll project has distributed food assistance, Irrigation support, livestock and animal feeds to 520 households in the state.
State Coordinator Fadama lll AF ll, Musa Garba, on Tuesday in Damaturu said that beneficiaries from six Local Government Areas of the state benefited from the assistance.
He said that small ruminants, wheat offal, animal feeds and Irrigation support were given to the households in order to restore their means of livelihoods destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgency.
Mr Garba said that 360 households in Degubi, Nangere local government area, Gishiwa/Dabuwa in Potiskum local government and Bulan-Bukarti village in Yunusari local government area benefitted from the programme.
“Similarly, 160 households from various communities in Gujba, Gulani and Geidam Local Government Areas also benefitted from the project.
“The package includes food assistance, four goats and a buck or three sheep and a ram for livestock farmers.
“Irrigation farmers were also provided with food assistance, water pumps, fertilizer, seeds, herbicides, insecticides and sprayers among others,” Mr Musa said.
The Fadama lll AF ll Northeast Food Assistance and Livelihood Emergency Support was a tripartite project between the Federal Governments, the World Bank and Yobe state.
The coordinator said the project was to facilitate resettlement, reconstruction and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in the state.
