Several members of the Boko Haram terrorists known for navigating villages in Borno and Yobe on bicycles to carry out attacks ended their cycling on August 7, falling into the net of Nigerian troops.
This was after an ambush by 22 Brigade Dikwa under 7 Division of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force.
Following the encounter, which occurred between Bulabirin and Mongole villages of Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State, six members of the terrorist group were reported killed.
In a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Sani Usman, “several others sustained various bullet wounds. Troops also recovered 6 Bicycles, 3 Dane guns and 1 machete from the terrorists.”
As a part of Operation Lafiya Dole, troops of 233 Battalion, 27 Task Force Brigade, also intercepted two fleeing members of the terrorist group at Sasawa village.
“The two terrorists claimed to escape from a hideout at Futchumaram, Geidam Local Government Area,” said Mr Usman, a brigadier general.
