No fewer than 7,000 candidates compete for 1,323 admission slots into various degree programmes for the 2017/2018 academic session at Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano.
A statement by the spokesman of the university, Abdullahi Hassan, said the 1,323 slots were the university’s quota approved by National University Commission, NUC.
The statement added that out of the 7,000 applicants, 5,000 who applied through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, sat for Post UTME.
“The examination was successfully conducted on October 16 at the main campus of the university.
“Over 2,000 candidates who applied through Direct Entry, DE, attended a screening exercise that focused on verification of original credentials of the candidates.
“The screening exercise was conducted on October 17 at the institution’s city campus,” the statement said.
The statement also said the vice chancellor of the university, Mustapha Isa, described the conduct of the exercise as successful.
Mr Isa, a professor, reaffirmed his determination to move the university to international standard.
