Mild drama ensued at the Gombe State House of Assembly during the Thursday’s plenary when an All Progressive Congress, APC, member representing Akko west constituency, Abdullahi Abubakar, took away the mace.
It was gathered that Mr Abubakar was assisted by another member, Mohammed Bello, from Gombe South state constituency to escape with the mace.
Mr Abubakar was reported to have escaped through the door with the mace, while Mr Bello held the door to keep the other members of the assembly from rescuing the mace from him.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the saga was prompted in an attempt to impeach the Minority Leader, Mohammed Haruna, who was reported to have held a press conference condemning the processes of the APC Ward Congress.
Following this development, which split the members equally, it was obvious that the impeachment could not hold. This led Mr Abubakar to flee with the mace, at about 1:12pm.
However, the officials of the assembly are yet to address the press as of the time of filing this report.
