A group loyal to the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Reset Foundation, has tackled former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal over his comment against Mr Abubakar ahead of Saturday’s presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Port Harcourt.

The former SGF had, in an interview with a national daily, lambasted former Vice President, saying that he (Atiku) cannot win election even in his home state of Adamawa talk more of the entire country.

However, in the statement by its Secretary, Samuel Kantiyok, the group said it was unfortunate that Mr Lawal, whom corruption cases cost him his job at the Presidency could open his mouth to speak against a person who had served the nation as a Vice President and willing to serve again as President.

Mr Kantiyok further said, “Though it is not in the character of our group to respond to such comment coming from the calibre of Lawal Babachir who lacks national credibility, but in order to save gullible Nigerians from swallowing line, hook and sinker such comment, we decided to react rather a bit late which is deliberate.

“We are therefore demanding that if President Muhammadu Buhari is actually fighting corruption, then his former SGF, Babachir should be tried in the law court for corruption.

“It is our belief that Atiku will prove Babachir wrong at the primary election in Port Harcourt as he is going to emerge victorious at the end of the election.

“We also believe that if Atiku is given the privilege to serve, he will provide dividends of democracy to every Nigerian home.

“In this regard, we call on all good people of Nigeria to join this movement in supporting the campaign to actualise this bid of Atiku to be president come 2019”.
