Governor Muhammadu Bindow of Adamawa says sustained criticism by political opponents of his administration will not affect his growing popularity in the state.

He spoke in Yola on Monday at the swearing-in ceremony of Isah Halilu as the new Commissioner for Water Resources in the state.

The governor said that the people of the state remained solidly behind him in spite of criticism by his opponents, as he was giving his best.

The governor charged the new commissioner, a former banker, to use his wealth of experience to transform the water sector.

He told him that his appointment was made on merit

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Halilu replaces Rufai Ahmed, who resigned recently to take up appointment in Buhari Campaign Organisation.

Responding, Mr Halilu thanked the governor for the appointment, assuring that he would not disappoint him and the people of Adamawa.
