In commemoration of the International Day of Action for Women’s Health, A Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, The Nigerian Woman and Healthcare, will organise a symposium with a view to encouraging women to actively participate in the country’s Universal Health Coverage, UHC.
In a statement co-signed by the Project Coordinator Dr Ogeoma Ukeka and the Event Director Ike Okoye, said the symposium with the theme: ‘Universal Health Coverage, UHC, and the Nigerian Woman: Woman to woman, leave no woman behind project’, which is will hold on May 14 at Shehu Musa Yar’adua Center Abuja.
According to the statement, the symposium is aimed at improving the health indices of the nation through the active participation of the Nigerian Woman towards the attainment of UHC in Nigeria.

The statement added that in this present circumstance of bourgeoning movement towards UHC, letting the Nigerian woman lead in the drive for the coverage is evidently the way to go.
“The Nigerian woman is frequently faced with a myriad of socio-cultural factors that negatively impact on her physical wellbeing and accessibility to appropriate healthcare service.
“Economic and educational barriers also affect and lower her standard of living when compared to her male counterparts.
“Nigerian women must become agents of change to turn around this situation.”
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the event will feature participants from the healthcare and associated sectors of the country.
It was also gathered that it will provide a platform for interaction and deliberation on the role of the Nigerian Woman in ensuring healthcare access for her entire family.
