As many as 120 women obtained driving licenses through the driving school in Qassim University, the Makkah Arabic daily reported on Saturday.
The driving school in Qassim was established only about two months ago. The women took about 30 hours of training before they passed the theoretical and practical tests.
The school’s director, Ruqayyah Al-Saqeeh, congratulated all the women trainees who obtained their driving licenses.
“We are proud that the school had an imprint on training, enlightenment and model behavior on each woman driver who can all drive safely now,” she said.
Siham Al-Hamid, one of the women who obtained the driving license, expressed her thanks and gratitude to the Qassim University, which gave them the opportunity to learn driving.
“The school has provided the trainees with ample resources and great facilities in addition to exquisite treatment during all the period of training,” she said.
Hanan Al-Harbe, who is a dentist, said her happiness had no bounds. She said she could now drive legally on the Kingdom’s roads.
“I had a great experience in the school. The instructors were qualified and well versed in driving. We received fabulous treatment from the management of the school,” she said.
Fatima Al-Nifaisi, who is from Riyadh, said the school gave much attention to the trainees. “The instructors cared a lot about us until the time of our graduation,” she said.
