In his first day in office, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State on Thursday called for a meeting of the state security council to discuss the security situation in the state.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the meeting started around 4 pm at the council chambers of the government house in Maiduguri.
The Governor who arrived office at about 11 am started by holding a meeting with the General Officer Commanding seven division of the Nigerian Army.
Prof. Zulum thereafter held a closed-door meeting with the state’s traditional rulers led by the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi.
The Governor also met with officials of Borno State Road Maintenance Agency, BORMA as well as government engineers.
Our correspondent gathered that the governor discussed a major project he intended to begin with, as part of his vision to eliminate traffic congestion in Maiduguri metropolis.
It was also gathered that the governor would also meet with permanent secretaries who currently head state ministries.
Recall that the 21 commissioners in the state had been dissolution on Tuesday night by the then Governor Kashim Shettima.
