Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development has donated food items and clothing materials to orphans and Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Zamfara State.
Presenting the donation, the Chairman of the Foundation and the Emir of Argungu, Samaila Mera, said the gesture was part of sultan’s gesture to bring relief to the orphans and IDPs in the state.
“We are all aware of the condition in the state as regards to insecurity and it is our duty to help them, I believe this token would provide a relief to their condition,” he said
The foundation’s donation was supported by the Nigerian Customs Service, National Headquarters.
The Chairman, Zamfara State Council of Chiefs and the Emir of Anka Alhaji Attahiru Ahmed thanked the sultan over the gesture, which he described as timely.
He said this is a month of Ramadan, a period that encouraged charity among Muslims Ummah.
The monarch equally thanked the entire Muslims community of the country, who did not forget them in their prayers, and who turned to assist the state in time of needs.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that the items donated to the victims include: rice, cooking oil and clothing material mainly for females.
The occasion was attended by five emirs and other traditional rulers, who received the donation on behalf of the orphans and IDPs in the state.
