To attend to minor illnesses of pilgrims in Madinah, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has introduced first aid services in hotels where pilgrims are accommodated.
This, according to a statement by the chairman of the medical team, Ibrahim Kana, is a caravan system of health delivery that would help treat pilgrims in Muna, Arafat and Muzdalifah.
He said the health delivery system, entails distribution of medical personnel to states to ensure that pilgrims were accompanied by the medical personnel accompanied during their movement from Makkah to Muna, Arafat and Muzdalifah.
Mr Kana urged the heads of state pilgrims boards and agencies to provide space for make-shift clinics, for male and female pilgrims in their tents.
He said that NAHCON chairman, Mr Abdullahi Muhammad had approved the request for the supply of all necessary drugs, medical consumables and equipment, which would be delivered to the medical store on Monday or Tuesday for distribution to states that queued into the new initiative.
Mr Kana disclosed that the the Commission had taken delivery of four new ambulances, equipped with oxygen concentrators and other resuscitation gadgets for use during pilgrims stay at the religious sites.
He advised that states with ambulances were expected to queue them into the central ambulance system to serve all pilgrims under a single management structure.
