NYSC boss visits injured Katsina corps members, condoles with deceased families

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Ibrahim Shuaibu, on Tuesday visited nine Corps members serving in Katsina State who are receiving treatment in hospitals from injuries sustained in a ghastly motor accident.

The DG, in company of the state coordinator, Ahidjo Yahaya, visited the injured corps members at Federal Medical Center, Katsina, Katsina General Hospital and Amadi Rimi Specialist/Orthopaedic Hospital, Katsina.

Briefing newsmen after the visit, Shuaibu, who said  he was in the state to see the victims on admission in hospitals, expressed delight that the victims were now responding to treatment.

While praying for their quick recovery, the DG also prayed God to grant the dead ones, eternal rest, and give their families, the  fortitude to bear the loss.

He also thanked the state governor for his magnanimity and kindness to the victims during the accident.

The DG later made phone calls to the families of the deceased and condoled with them over the demise of the corps members.

Recall that 12 corps members were traveling on a bus to Funtua for a Church programme on Sunday when the accident happened.

Three of them died on the spot, while the remaining nine sustained injuries in the accident that occurred at Gobirawa, Kankara local government area of the state.

Governor Aminu Masari, who was also on his way to Danja, witnessed the accident shortly after it happened.

Mr Masari stopped over and directed a vehicle in his convoy to immediately transport the injured ones to hospital for treatment, and deposit the corpses in the morgue.

NAN reports that two corps members have been discharged from hospital and one is an outpatient.
