4 days to governorship election, unknown gunmen kill two policemen in Bayelsa

Uknown gunmen, Tuesday, killed two policemen in Bayelsa State and carted away their rifles, TheCable reports.
The incident occurred in Otuogidi community in Ogbia local government area of the state.

The officers were attacked at a checkpoint close to the Bayelsa State College of Health Technology in Ogbia.

While one of them reportedly died on the spot, the other died at a hospital he was taken to for medical attention.

This is coming when the state’s governorship election is barely 4 days away.

The impending election is allegedly stoking tensions in the state, even though the inspector general of police, Adamu Abubakar, has assured residents of peace during and after the poll.

Keeping to his words, Mr Adamu, has deployed 32,000 policemen to the state for the election.

The policemen are to be supervised by 15 commissioners of police, three assistant inspectors-general of police and Anthony Ogbizi, a deputy inspector-general of police
