Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has expressed satisfaction with the level of progress so far recorded at the ongoing construction of the Damaturu Ultra-Modern Market and the upgrading of the new NYSC orientation camp in Potiskum local government area of the state.
The governor made the assessment during an inspection visit to the two sites in company of his commissioners for Commerce, Trade and Industries, Barma Shettima and for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Goni Bukar-Lawan.
“We are here to see for ourselves the level of progress. Although it is a surprise visit, I am satisfied with what I saw.
“Looking at the pace of work, I am confident that the project will be completed within the specified period,” the governor said.
In his remark, Mr Shettima assured the governor that the project would be completed on schedule and in accordance with the contract agreement signed with the contractor.
“We working round the clock to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated period and without compromising on standard and quality,” he said.
At the new NYSC orientation camp site, the governor commended the renovation and upgrade of the facility.
He, therefore, directed the youth and sports commissioner to forward to his desk any pending requests for items needed to get the place up and running.
“We are all aware that insecurity was the reason why we decided to relocate the NYSC orientation camp from its permanent site to this location.
“Since we have decided to do that, we have to strive to ensure that everything that is needed to make our NYSC Corps Members comfortable is provided…
“I want to direct the commissioner of the ministry to come-up with all the necessary requirements that will make our Corps Members comfortable in the orientation camp,” he said.
