President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Garba Abubakar as the substantive Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that until his appointment, Mr Abubakar is the Director, Compliance at the commission.
The appointment is contained in a letter signed on Tuesday by the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF.
The letter also conveyed the appointment of Mr Ademola Razak Seriki as the Chairman, Governing Board of the commission.
“Kindly note that the tenure of the appointments should be in line with the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act,” the letter stated.
Recall that Azuka Azinge had been heading the commission in an acting capacity for the past two years until she was recently suspended by the Code of Conduct tribunal, following assets declaration issues, as well as some irregularities which this newspaper exclusively reported.
DAILY NIGERIAN had exclusively reported how Lady Azinge disobeyed SGF’s directive, ‘bribed’ her way to become acting Registrar-General.
We also reported how Mrs Azinge had connived with Buhari’s former minister to grant over N559m ‘illegal waivers’ to Polaris Bank, Enyimba Development Company.
