The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has expressed excitement over the recent stability in the oil industry despite the COVID-19 pandemic, declaring that there would be no more crisis in the sector.
The IPMAN’s chairman, Kano State Chapter, Bashir Dan-Mallam, made the declaration at a media briefing on Tuesday in Kano.
Mr Dan-Mallam said the stability credit goes to the management of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, for their steadfastness in ensuring that the industry did not pack up, despite the near collapse of the sector occasioned by the COVID-19 lockdown.
According to him, the NNPC’s Group Managing-Director, GMD, Mele Kyari and his team deserve commendation “for their eagle-eyed alertness to the way the pandemic was threatening the world economy as it relates to Nigeria”.
He reiterated that “the NNPC took swift measures, as they were in constant touch with all of us, the stakeholders, which ensured that constant and uninterrupted supply and distribution of petroleum products across the country.
“Let me also commend the GMD and his team for their tireless efforts in interfacing with various state governments to ensure seamless and hitch-free movement of petroleum products and services stations nationwide.
“That is why even in this COVID-19 lockdown, every Nigerian is a witness to the availability of petroleum products at filling stations across the country, despite the fall in oil prices in the world market. We must commend them for this,” Mr Dan-Mallam stressed.
The IPMAN chairman further lauded the humanitarian efforts of the NNPC boss “in lending a helping hand through Corporate Social Responsibility by donating billions of naira worth of equipment and supplies to help fight the pandemic”.
