BREAKING: INEC declares APC’s Akeredolu winner of Ondo guber polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the governor of Ondo State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Rotimi Akeredolu, winner of the governorship election held on October 11.

Mr Akeredolu was re-elected as Governor of Ondo State after winning with a wide margin in 15 of the 18 local governments.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Eyitayo Jegede, came second after winning in three local government areas.

Mr Akeredolu polled 292,830 votes, while Mr Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party and Mr Agboola of the Zenith Labour Party came second and third in the election with 195,791 and 69,127 votes, respectively.

Announcing the results at the INEC office in Akure on Sunday, the Returning Officer for the election, Professor Idowu Olayinka, returned Mr Akeredolu as the governor-elect.

“Having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes, I hereby declare Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu of the APC as the winner, and he is hereby returned elected,” Mr Olayinka said.
