A former governor of Kano State, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, has marked his 64th birthday anniversary with the launching of a nomadic school built by the by the Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation in Rano Local Government Area of the state.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the school is located at the Gangaren Gayya Community, Munture village in the local government area.
Powered with solar energy, the school has two blocks that house 6 classrooms.
Speaking at the launching held at the Gangaren Gayya community on Tuesday, Mr Kwankwaso said he decided to upgrade the school in order to provide education for all the children living in the area.
According to him, about 300 pupils had been enrolled into the school, pledging to support the education of members of the community up to university level.
Mr Kwankwaso added that said the launch of the school was part of the activities to celebrate his 64th birthday, noting that “this is the best way to celebrate your birthday”.
“It is my cardinal agenda to provide education to people, especially children of the poor.
“This school has been here for a long time. But it is here as an Islamic school. Then I see the need to upgrade it to be conventional so that both western and Islamic education would be taught here,” he added.
The former governor, therefore, urged the community members to make good use of the school, calling on the people of the area to maintain the school for their own good.
