The British Government has congratulated Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, on her appointment as the new Director-General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP.
John Kane, the Program Head for Collaboration Against Trafficking and Smuggling in Nigeria, CATS-N, stated this when led a delegation from the British High Commission to pay a courtesy visit on the DG, on Thursday in Abuja.
Mr Kane assured that his team at CATS-N are ready to establish a framework that would be of benefit to both the British Government and NAPTIP.
“Just as the UK Government had supported NAPTIP in establishing the JBTF and rehabilitate the Lagos and Benin Shelters, they are also willing to continue their existing collaborations with the agency,” he said.
Responding, the DG thanked the British Government for their commitment in the fight against trafficking in persons.
She said the agency was going through a rebranding phase, stressing that knowledge gathered by the JBTF team should be cascaded down to all officers of the agency.
Ms Sulaiman-Ibrahim emphasised the need to maximise the fight against trafficking in persons while strengthening partnerships that work.
She pointed out that support by the UK Government was key in the fight against human trafficking, assuring that NAPTIP would give 100 per cent cooperation to that effect.
The DG, therefore, encouraged the UK Government to fit the agency into its programmes such as #UKCSSF #EndHumanTrafficking.
