Massive turnout has been recorded in the Saturday local government election in 17 local government areas of Yobe State.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the election was conducted peacefully, even in areas affected by Boko Haram insurgency.
A voter, Abba Gana, said the turnout signified restoration of peace as well as the increasing support for the APC and Governor Mai Mala Buni administration.

While commending the peaceful conduct of the polls, the state governor, Mai Mala Buni, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and support for the APC.
Recall that on February 12, while handing APC flag to the candidates for the 17 local governments, Mr Buni assured them of his readiness to give the local councils free hands to function.
“We will hand to local government chairmen the trust to run the affairs of their councils. If local governments are empowered to operate freely and function, the pressure on the state government will be reduced,” Mr Buni said.
