The Indian delegation does not pose a risk to the rest of the representatives at the G7 meeting in London as they had not yet meet the other dignitaries, official sources told dpa.
Members of India’s team have held other meetings earlier, before news broke out on Wednesday of a possible Coronavirus infection among the delegation.
However, face masks were worn and social distancing was in place during those meetings, the source added.
It is understood the Indian foreign minister is self-isolating as a precaution.
A senior British diplomat told dpa, “We deeply regret that Foreign Minister Dr Jaishankar will be unable to attend the meeting today in person and will now attend virtually, but this is exactly why we have put in place strict COVID protocols and daily testing.’’
