Nigerian market traders association appoints Aminu Dantata as patron

The Kano State chapter of the Market Traders Association of Nigeria, MATAN, has appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Dantata Foods and Allied Products, Tajuddeen Aminu-Dantata, as its patron and member of the advisory council.

The appointment is contained in a statement signed by MATAN media aide, Mustapha Isah-Kwaru, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the appointment was disclosed during an official visit to the CEO’s office by the executive members of MATAN led by its Chairman, Abba Aminu-Imam.

The spokesman explained that the visit was aimed at seeking partnership with Mr Dantata in line with the general missions and visions of the association, such as championing the interest of Kano traders and enhancing business activities in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the association, the chairman stated that the appointment was approved in recognition of Mr Dantata’s patriotism and contributions towards the improvement of business activities both in Kano, Nigeria and the world at large.

Mr Imam also explained that MATAN had unveiled an effective roadmap for the improvement of the welfare of Kano traders.

He added that the roadmap was a strategy designed to ensure the hitch-free implementation of short, medium and long term procedures.

“MATAN has identified the primary predicaments confronting Kano traders, markets and general business activities and has outlined possible solutions,” he said.

Mr Imam revealed that Kano traders would be able to benefit from non-interest loans from the Sterling Bank.

He disclosed that plans to commence the disbursement of the loans to eligible registered members were in the final stages.

The MATAN chairman, therefore, urged Mr Dantata to use his wealth of experience, knowledge and business development strategies to offer advice to Kano traders on how to improve their businesses.

In his remarks, Mr Dantata expressed delight over the visit and his appointment as patron of MATAN.

He tasked the executives to embark on a vigorous registration drive to encourage more traders to join the association, stating that a high number of members was a vital device for the successful implementation of the set goals.

The patron also promised to use his connections both within Nigeria and globally to ensure the growth of the association.
