Armed terrorists, otherwise known as bandits, have attacked the convoy of the emir of Bungudu Hassan Attahiru along Abuja-Kaduna highway.

Mr Attahiru, who is a monarch in Zamfara State, was on his way to Abuja when the kidnappers struck.

DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday at 3:10pm near Olam Factory, few kilometers to the city of Kaduna.

“The kidnappers hid in the shelterbelt of eucalyptus trees at about three points along the road. Those at the middle first opened the fire on the convoy, before those in the front started firing sporadically,” said the source.

The source also said that other commercial and private vehicles were also seen by the roadside, signifying multiple abductions of travelers.

Kaduna State Police Command is yet to speak on the incident.
