Yobe State commissioner for Youth, Sports, Social and Community Development, Goni Bukar-Lawan, has died in a ghastly motor accident along Damaturu-Kano Highway on Tuesday.

Mamman Mohammed, the spokesman for Governor Mai Mala Buni, confirmed the incident to The Channels on Wednesday.

According to him, the commissioner’s corpse has been deposited at the mortuary of the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital Damaturu.

The governor’s aide explained that two of his friends, who were with him during the accident, are responding to treatment in one of the health facilities in the state.

Speaking on the cause of the accident, the Zonal Commanding Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Zone 12 covering Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states, Assistant Corps Marshal Rotimi Adeleye, said the driver might have lost control.

“The accident involved one Lexus Jeep with registration number 11A-01YB Yobe state on his way from Damaturu to Kano,” he stated.
