The Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria, FTAN, has named the Director General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, Nura Sani-Kangiwa as one of the recipients of the 2021 tourism Icon Award.
A statement signed by the FTAN Director of Media and Publicity, Ahmed Mohammed-Sule, said the award ceremony will hold on Tuesday, September 27 as part of activities to mark the 2021 World Tourism Day.
Quoting the FTAN President, Nkereuwen Onung, the statement said the award is to honor key players who have contributed to the growth and development of tourism in the country.
Mr Onung said: “Kangiwa is being honoured for his dogged pursuit in revamping effective manpower training in the hospitality Trades, Travel and Tourism industry of the country which has brought about improved service delivery in the industry.
The statement further extolled the virtues, dynamism and resilient efforts of Mr Kangiwa at repositioning NIHOTOUR since assumption of office as Chief Executive Officer of the Institute.
According to the FTAN President, Mr Kangiwa strides in better training, service delivery and his ‘Reach-Out’ initiative with relevant key players of the industry in both public and private sectors is second to none.
Other distinguished personalities billed to receive the Tourism Icon Award alongside Nura Kangiwa are the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Margaret Bolanle-Fabiyi, a.k.a. Mama Webisco, who have distinguished themselves and their organizations in impacting positively on the nation’s Travel, Tourism and Hospitality industry.
