The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has felicitated with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on his 55th birthday.

Mr Atiku, in a tweet that accompanied Mr Wike’s photograph, prayed that good things would happen to the Rivers governor as he marks his 55th birthday.

The tweet, titled: ‘Many Happy Returns’, said: “As you turn 55 today, I pray that all lines fall in pleasant places for you. Enjoy your special day. -AA.”

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the birthday message is coming as a surprise, especially as Messrs Atiku and Wike have been at loggerheads, following the governor’s failure to secure the PDP’s presidential ticket.

The party has since been thrown into crisis after Mr Wike’s refusal to support Mr Atiku’s presidential ambition.

The Rivers governor had formed a G-5 group of four governors demanding the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The G-5 group, led by Mr Wike, comprises governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu.

While the crisis between the duo had seemed to defy all entreaties, Mr Atiku had claimed that he met with Mr Wike five times — within and outside the country — on the development.

“I have met Wike two times in Port Harcourt, two times in Abuja, one time in London — personally,” he said.
