Hameem Nuhu emerges new Emir of Dutse

The eldest son of the late Emir of Dutse, Hameem Nuhu Sanusi, has emerged as the new Emir of Dutse.

The first class monarch, who died at Cedercrest Hospital in Abuja on January 31 after a brief illness, ruled the emirate for 28 years.

The emergence of his 43-year-old son followed a selection by the Dutse kingmakers led by Wazirin Dutse Bashir Dalhatu, the endorsement of the Jigawa State Council of Chiefs led by the emir of Hadejia Adamu Maje, and approval of the governor, Badaru Abubakar.

A statement by the state commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Sankara, said the appointment followed unanimous selection by the seven kingmakers of the emirate.

“Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has approved the appointment of Muhammad Hameem Nuhu Sanusi as the new Emir of Dutse.

“The appointment followed the unanimous selection of Hameem by seven kingmakers among three contenders for the royal seat.

“The selection was then approved by the Jigawa State Council of Chiefs and subsequently, by the Governor himself, taking effect from February 5th, 2023” Mr Sankara said.

Also confirming the appointment, the spokesman for the governor, Habibu Kila, the secretary to the state government is expected to present the appointment letter to the new emir by 4pm on Sunday at Garu Palace in Dutse.
