The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Usman Ododo, as the winner of the governorship election of Kogi State.
The state returning officer, Prof Johnson Urama, who is the deputy vice-chancellor (Academics) of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, announced Mr Ododo as the winner at 10:23pm on Sunday.
Mr Urama said Mr Ododo satisfied the requirements of the law after scoring 446,237 votes, while the candidate of Social Democratic Party, SDP, Murtala Ajaka, scored 259,052.
The candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dino Melaye, came third after polling 46,362 votes.
INEC had earlier fixed Saturday November 18 for elections to be conducted in 59 polling units in Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi State.
INEC spokesman, Mohammed Haruna, announced this in a statement on Sunday night.
