A former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has fired back at his successor, Uba Sani, describing him as a sycophant.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Sani and his erstwhile political ally, Mr El-Rufai, had fallen out after the latter was denied ministerial screening and later his nominee, Jaafaru Sani, was changed by the governor.
Recently Mr El-Rufai, alongside some chieftains of the APC and other opposition leaders, met in Abuja, where he emphasised the need for a united coalition front ahead of 2027.
They accused the current government of poor leadership and stifling opposition voices.
But speaking during an interview on TVC News on Monday, Mr Sani lambasted the advocates of the coalition.
He asked them to show their stewardship while in office, adding that Mr Tinubu has performed better than any other democratic president.
But responding to the governor’s remark in a post on his X handle on Tuesday titled Kaduna Update, Mr El-Rufai said the governor is “embarrassingly and sycophantically rambling” every day to defend Mr Tinubu [even] if it contradicts the reality”.
He, however, said Mr Sani alleged sycophancy might not be unconnected to the ‘reimbursements, interventions, and grants in excess of N150billion that have been given selectively to Kaduna by the Tinubu administration.
“Every day I see this governor embarrassingly and sycophantically rambling; I used to wonder why? However, confirming that Federal Government ‘reimbursements, interventions, and grants’ in excess of N150bn have been given selectively to Kaduna by Tinubu in the last 18 months now explains everything.
“By all means, defend Asiwaju for the conditional cash transfer. Asiwaju has earned it, coming from you. The people of Kaduna State will judge at the right time and place. Have a nice day. – #ConcernedKadunaCitizen,” the former governor said.
