The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Enugu State Command has deployed over 1,000 personnel to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.
The NSCDC state commandant, Elijah Willie, disclosed this on Saturday in an Eid-el-Fitr goodwill message made available to newsmen in Enugu.
Mr Willie said the deployment was in line with the command’s commitment to ensure a safe and secure environment for residents.
“We have deployed over 1,000 officers and men both in uniform and plain clothes across the state.”
The commandant noted that the command’s patrol units, armed squads, Joint Task Force, JTF personnel, Rapid Response Teams, and Counter-Terrorism Units had also been strategically positioned in all nooks and crannies of the state.
He said that the strategic deployments were meant to forestall security breaches and guarantee a peaceful celebration.
“On this joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, the Command extends its warmest felicitations to the Muslim faithful in Enugu State and across Nigeria.
“May this celebration bring you peace, happiness and divine blessings after the spiritual rejuvenation of Ramadan.
“I commend His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, for his unwavering support in strengthening security architecture in the state.
“I also extend my profound gratitude to the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Audi, for his visionary leadership and relentless efforts in equipping the Corps to deliver on its mandate effectively,” he said.
The commandant urged residents to collaborate with the NSCDC by providing timely and actionable intelligence to aid its operations in the state, especially during this festive period.
“Be assured that your privacy and confidentiality will be respected and protected at all times.
“Once again, I wish you all a happy, peaceful and blissful Eid-el-Fitr celebration. May the lessons of Ramadan guide us towards a more harmonious and secure society.”
