Izala sect raises N200m donations for Islamic centre

An Islamic foundation, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ahWa’ikamatis Sunnah, JIBWIS, on Sunday said it had raised over N200 million as donations from Muslims across the country for its ongoing Islamic Centre in Guzape, Abuja.

The Deputy Chairman National Ulama Council of the organisation, Yusuf Rigachukun, disclosed this in Gusau when he led the delegation of the organization on a courtesy visit to Zamfara Government House, in Gusau.

The delegation was received by the state’s deputy governor, Ibrahim Wakkala, on behalf of the government.

Shiek Rigachukun noted that the project was awarded to CCL Construction company, at N300 million in the last three years.

“We raised this amount in the first round through donations given by members of the organization, well meaning individuals, and state governments across the country.

“The project comprises three story building as women Islamic centre, Juma’at mosque, schools, offices and accommodations.

“We have finished the ground and first floors, we are now working on the remaining parts of the projects,” he said.

The Islamic scholar commended different categories of people among the Muslim faithful who contributed to the project.

He said the organization was in the state to sensitise the Muslims in the state to the second phase of donations to the project.

Responding, Mr Wakkala thanked the organization for the visit and its various activities to enlighten and educate Muslims.

He assured that the government would continue to support the activities of the organization for the propagation of Islam.
