Bashir Dalhatu, a former minister of Power and Steel during the military administration of Sani Abacha, has dragged a former presidential candidate of National Republican Convention, Bashir Tofa, to court for defaulting loan repayment.

DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that Mr Tofa allegedly borrowed the money from Mr Dalhatu over a year ago in London “to take care of some emergency needs” and promised to pay back when they returned to Nigeria.
Sources said when Mr Dalhatu demanded payment of the money, Mr Tofa allegedly claimed that “he thought it was free”.
Mr Dalhatu allegedly insisted that he lent Mr Tofa the money.
In view of Mr Dalhatu’s insistence for repayment, Mr Tofa agreed to pay the money in naira at the exchange rate of the time he borrowed the money.
Mr Dalhatu however disagreed, and filed a case before Goron Dutse Upper Shariah Court presided over by Umar Bakinzuwo.
At the resumed hearing on Monday, Mr Tofa, who was represented by his lawyer, M.M. Abubakar, notified the court of his appeal, challenging the sermon served on him.
