Abducted Kaduna monarch, Gyet Maude, regains freedom

The paramount ruler of Jaba Chiefdom in Kaduna State, Gyet Maude, has been released by his captors after 48 hours in the bandits’ den.

Brother to the 83-year-old first-class monarch, Anthony Maude, according to The Punch, revealed this to newsmen on Wednesday night.

Maude was abducted on Monday while on his farm at Gitata community of Nasarawa State.

The bandits later reached out to the family and demanded for an N100m ransom before he would be released.

The monarch’s brother give no details on whether the ransom was paid or not.

As of the time of filing this report, there is no official statement on the development, as the spokesman of the state police command, ASP Mohammed Jalige, could not be reached.

The incident happened barely two weeks after bandits’ abduction of the 85-year-old emir of Kajuru, Alhassan Adamu, alongside 13 other members of his family.

However, in less than 24 hours, the emir regained his freedom from his abductors while other members of the family were held back by the kidnappers.
