The Arewa Consultative Forum has appealed to Nigerians not to politicise or put ethnic or religious connotations to President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Taraba State and his planned trips to Benue, Zamfara, and Yobe states.
In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Biu, the forum said: “No amount of condolence visits can compensate for the loss of lives and property destroyed; it is unhelpful to always politicise tragedies.
The statement read, “Also, President Buhari’s planned visits to Benue, Zamfara and other troubled states, where innocent people were killed by suspected herdsmen, bandits and militias are appropriate.
“Let’s appreciate the effort of the government in addressing the issues and urge them, especially our security agencies, to be more proactive in tackling the security challenges.”
