A rights activist, Najatu Muhammad, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to relieve the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, of his appointment if the president is serious about fight against corruption.
Senators had last week called for Mr. Lawal’s removal and prosecution, following alleged complicity in the diversion of the North East humanitarian funds and inflation of contracts.
In an interview with Liberty Radio monitored by Daily Nigerian in Abuja, the onetime close political ally of the president also called on the president to sack his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, saying there are glaring evidences of corruption against the duo.
“There are a lot of misappropriation in this administration, the president ips aware but is yet to take any action.
“The SGF awarded contracts to his company, which he has not resigned from. We thank God that we are now vindicated, and that we were not out to malign anybody.
“I am in the opposition for 35 years, and all I have been doing is fight against injustice and tyranny. Why will I keep mute while there are injustices going on in the land.
“The Prophet has said if you cannot stop the wrong with your hand, do it with your tongue. That’s why I am doing it with my tongue to stop this and call the president to order.
“The corruption in the military is beyond imagination. What the government is accusing and charging Sambo Dasuki with is some thing that the military heads are guilty of today. This government is yet to prosecute them but rather working with them.
“Go and see the corruption in the IDP’s, it is not Babachir alone. The military chiefs too have turned Maiduguri to an ATM, where they withdraw money and become rich,” she added.
